Historical note: Ancient Egyptian was not English written with picture symbols.
This tool is designed for classroom exploration. It uses authentic Egyptian Unicode signs and
models three important sign functions: logograms (a sign representing a word or idea),
phonograms (a sign representing sound), and determinatives
(silent signs that help clarify meaning).
English → Hieroglyphics
Tip: vowels may be omitted or approximated because Egyptian writing focused heavily on consonants. You can also enter whole numbers, such as 27, 365, or 4,622.
